SPEX Worldwide Exchange Program

SPEX is Honeywell’s branded Spares Exchange (SPEX) program that provides an extensive LRU (Line Replaceable Unit) exchange and rental service for our customers. The service is complemented by a worldwide network of support centers and an inventory of more than 25,000 spare components. We do this to ensure Honeywell equipped aircraft will be returned to service promptly and economically.

Exchanges and rentals are available for both warranty and non-warranty situations. The aircraft owner is responsible for ensuring that units provided through this program have been approved for installation in their aircraft.

How Does It Work?

For operators, there is a tradeoff between the cost of order a replacement part and the cost of repairing a failed part. When the cost of repair becomes a significant percentage of the cost of replacement, it becomes economically favorable to simply order a replacement part.

Upon receipt of an Exchange request, Honeywell will ship a serviceable unit to the designated service center and the Customer will be responsible for returning the Core Unit within the approved guidelines.
